Hair Loss Treatment May Reduce Libido

Michael Irving from George Washington University noticed a link between hair loss drugs and reduced libido. What is interesting, it does not depend on the duration of treatment.

The study involved 54 volunteers who were taking Finasteride for hair loss. All participants reported sexual desire disorder associated with the drug. The researcher performed a comparative analysis of men's health at the beginning of the study and in 9-16 months.

The results of the study showed that 96% of men had adverse effects that negatively affected their sexual functions. Disorders in 89% men were analyzed using the Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX).

Interestingly, but the results in each case did not depend on the duration of Finasteride treatment. More than that, the researcher noted that even when the treatment was discontinued, many men still experienced reduced libido.

Previous studies showed that one in 80 men who has ever taken Finasteride suffer erectile dysfunction. However, despite this serious adverse effect, many men prefer to continue treatment.
